Octavia 54 plate Heater issues, pulling my hair out.....

Featured Replies

Hello, i have seen that there are a few discussions going on the forum about this but i have tried what is suggested and i've failed, so i need a little more help.

My heater was only working on blower setting 4, so i replaced the heater resistor as has been suggested and no joy.

the fuse in the fuse box blew as soon as i turned it on, it had a 40amp fuse in it and i'm buggered if i can find a replacement at Halfords, the highest is 35amps which i have been using, so any advice on fuses would be appreciated as well.

When i first started looking into this i ordered a new blower as i thought mine was knackered, but when i took it out and cleared it it worked which was lucky as the one i bought on ebay had been broken in the post and was no good, but as i said it only worked on number 4, though after changing the resistor it now just blows the fuse.

So, i know the blower works and the thermal resistor is brand new so should be fine.

Any suggestions chaps?

The only thing i can think of is to take the blower out and test it again as i guess there could be something obstructing the fins and overloading the system, does that sound feasible?

My Octavia is the base model i think.

Check for error codes on VCDS, maybe replace the switch panel itself, as that controls it.

you sure the resister pack is fine if its pulling more than 40amps. If you engine is running in theory you are pulling well over 500 watts

HI i have had a electrician look at it and he's saying the Blower has definitely gone, now all i need to do is find out where to get a replacement, i bought one off ebay before but i want to make sure i buy the right one, so do you know if there is a place i can go online to find out what the part number is?

skodaparts.com

This is actually a skoda dealer. If you cant find what you are looking for you can email or ring them, when asking about buying parts off the site they seems much more ready to give out part numbers. Normally they would simply say no, we cant tell you.
