Headlight warning light?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I had an odd warning light at the weekend, The orange bulb warning light came on, on the Dash.

I assumed it was a blown bulb, I parked at a service station and had a look around the car, all bulbs where working...

Restarted the car, and the Warning was gone?

Any ideas what this could be, or if its anything to worry about?

Car is in for a service next week, I will mention it then and report back if anything is amiss!

Brin.

If only happens the once it might have been a bad connection with damp, the DRL/Sidelight/parking light is prone.

Check that both rear number plate bulbs are working, with sidelights on.

only one comes on at the side of the Parking light if you have the indicator down, thats how it should be.

But it might for some reason throw up the Orange Warning light for 2 seconds, no idea why.

(if a bulb is faulty, the Orange Warning light should stay on while that bulb is switched on & faulty.)

Cheers,

The warning has stayed off so far, I have driven 400 miles since Saturday!

There was heavy rain at the time as well so maybe a one off, fingers crossed!

.

I will check the plate lights as well next time (I didnt think to check them,,,)

Check drl this happened to mine, after alot of rain it ended up rusting through a pin at the connection and had to get a new 1

DRLs are common. A bulb may look good, but actually be blown.

Just done one on ours where the filament had gone, but kept making contact. It's only when I shook it you could tell.

Thanks all,

All lights seemed to be working, high, main side\DRLs Rear Fog... (Only ones I didnt check where indicators, and plate lights)

I'm assuming indicators do the high speed flash when one is out...

I will wait and see if it happens again, and mention it at service time.

I get this on our Octy and assume it is because there is small hole in the rear nearside cluster which lets things get damp. Come the next pay packet the cluster is getting replaced....

Has been happening on mine for a while now, I've just been ignoring it as all the bulbs on the car are fine. Only thing I can think of is the blank bulb in the headlight cluster of the VRS might be monitored and is a bad connection?

Did you chek the "stoplight"... that lights when you brake?

I had the same problem... All lights seemed to be working... but i couldn't test the "brake-lamp" (sorry, i dont know how its called correctly)..

And later my wife noticed where the problem is :)

Quick update.

At the service today, the chap said it could be a sign of a bulb on the way out, but there is no way to tell, basicaly, dont worry, unless it is on permenantly.

Also,

Yep, I had a passenger at the time, so I did check the brake lamps as well.

Cheers
