octy vrs problems

Featured Replies

hi guys wondering if anyone can help have just had my g60 flywheel and vr6 clutch fitted done the normal running aqround to bed it in but seems like when i am trying to get the power down now even in a straight line the cars esp kicks in and it cant seem to get the power down in 1st gear revs up to 5k and then just drops off completely and u have to shift to 2nd then at about 3k traction control kicks in again at 4k and again at 5k u only seem to get about 500 rpm running before it kicks back in again it is running a rtech stage 2 286 ft it also sounds like the dv is dumping as soon as esp kicks in can anyone help as this is driving me nuts thanks guys

The DV will kick in if the ESP is coming on as its a way to reduce engine power amongst other things to stop wheel spin.

Just sounds like the tyres cant get enough traction

This.  Its cold weather now and tyres just cant cope due to the ambient temperature of the rubber and the greasy roads.  How is it in 3rd/4th?

is ok in 3rd and 4th but dropping all power at 5k in first no wheelspin though thinking it may be the compbrake dv to blame for that

mine spins up in 1st 2nd and third lol dont like doing it

Id put the OEM one back on,  I did and sold the other.

Does it rev beyond 5k with the ASR turned off? What spring is in your compbrake?

In 1st gear I'd expect it to spin at any revs above 2500 up to 6K so the traction control would kick in to stop wheelspin. To me,

the reason you're getting another 500rpm up the rev range before it happens again would be that it takes a second for the boost to rebuild after diverter valve opens.

As said, cold hard tyres wouldn't be helping.

This could be a load of crap of crap ofcourse and you could be experiencing something completely different.

A lot to take on there from you. You don't really say what is going on from your car other than your rpm. What is going on with the wheels when all this is happening. Are you spinning the wheels or are you saying that you have good traction and the revs just drop off as if you have a boost surge. The fact you say esp kicks in suggests you are loosing traction.if you are loosing traction then the esp / asr will attempt to bring car down to revs that will stop loss of traction as I see it so you will get a dv sound same as what the dv does between gear changes.

Please explain a little more of what your traction is doing.

Also the fitting of a g60 flywheel will make car engine spin up quicker over the std dmf. So perhaps a combination of this and the colder weather making boost more aggressive your wheels are spinning up more.?

i will try and explain better in 1st gear i have no problems but a bit of wheelspin if u pull off gently and then floor it revs fine to 5k then nothing like it loses all power and just drops off completely so shift to second and then again in 2nd if its under anything from a quarter pedal to 3 quarters of a pedal feels like its surging as u can here dv dumping to atmosphere and then it pick up and go again if u floor it in 2nd in a straight line feels like its ok u to 3k then asr kicks in and yes i think wheels are spinning they stop spinning at 3.5k and goes then it does the same at 4k again then goes at about 4.5k then revs up to 5.5k then asr again untill it finally gets traction for the last 1k of the rev range does this sound right to u guys

It sounds like the dump valve can't cope with the boost. Was it doing this before the clutch was fitted? For what they cost I would put a standard valve back on and take it from there.

Can you change the spring in the dv?

I'm not sure on yours. I know the forge ones you can. The standard valve does a good job other than on really high powered cars. They don't cost much new, about £25 I think.

Yellow spring, they norm have green already inside. Yellow is 15-23psi
