05 VRS Electric Window problem

Featured Replies

Big Mistake.

Went away on holiday for three weeks with the VRS parked in the drive. Fitted a breathable tailored cover to protect the paintwork but didn't notice that I had left the driver's window down. Now the electric windows won't work.

I have noted from a previous post in this forum that there is a controller in the driver's door that is susceptible to damp so I guess that this is the cause.

I shall take the car to my dealer next week but should I budget for a costly major repair?

Tony

A dealer will probably overcharge you. First step check fuses!

Give it a week to dry out, may start working again.

Had to get it done in a hurry as was going on holiday and it would have been parked outside while away. Phoned Clarion cars of Worthing (where I bought it new) on Saturday. They took it in on Monday, stripped out the door trim, cleaned contacts and windows started working. Subject to caveats re intermittent faults we agreed that they should replace trim and see if it stayed OK. Since they had given me a courtesy car for the day I picked the car up on Monday night but had to go back on Wednesday for them to fit a new piece of door trim that had to be ordered from Skoda.

Excellent service with a smile and total cost? £40 plus VAT.

Good old Clarion.

Now back from holiday and the windows are still working.

That's about a bare 1 hour labour charge, they are being very fair to you, charging that amount.. well done
