Gap between rear bumper and VRS-style bodykit.

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My Mk1 Fabia Silverline came with a VRS lookalike bodykit fitted, whereby the black bump strip is removed from the rear bumper, the bodykit is slotted in, glued in place (I believe!) and voila. However, what has been bugging me recently is the poor fit- there is a visible line halfway up the bumper where the plastic lugs of the bodykit fit in, and it gives the bumper a lovely 'falling off' appearance.

Bumper trim that is fitted is similar to this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-1-HB-REAR-BUMPER-SPOILER-TUNING-GT-/200544868137?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2eb167d729

I have two questions- should it be possible to remove the trim and re-set it myself, or do I risk knackering it due to the glue that is holding it in place?

Also, if I were just buy a standard Fabia VRS bumper and replace the whole lot, is this possible/easy enough to do?

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

The front bumper comes off nice and easy so I think back should be even easier. Correct me if I'm wrong but a vrs bumper would just pop straight on.

And the clip on bit on the rear is what the vrs rear bumper is anyway

The Fabia VRS rear bumper is 2 part bonded together. It's been known to be difficult for bodyshops to get right. Possibly easier to find a complete VRS rear bumper in the right colour.

Hi guys,

After doing some researching I believe the kit my car has fitted is the "GT kit" which indeed does have the lower valance exactly the same as a VRS, plus a different front bumper which I'm sure many of you are aware of.

Based on your advice I am now on the lookout for a full VRS rear bumper, as I agree with you that it will be much more hassle to attempt to re-set the bonded valance!

Cheers,

PK.

only thing with a vrs bumper on a non vrs is what would the exhaust look like as its a pretty big cut out in the vrs bumper for it

Haha yeah, I have that problem now- I used to have a drop-down exhaust tip bolted on. However, when I had it MOT'd they removed it without telling me- it then never went on properly again. I thought it was securely bolted but then it fell off one day and scared the crap out of the Mondeo driver behind me, whoops!
