LED fogs as DRLs - bulb problems

Featured Replies

Hi all

I bought these foglight bulbs: http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/H8-High-Power-12-LED-Foglight-Bulb.html?bulb_search=car

Fitted them, and this evening and with the help of devonutopia (thanks again) used VCDS to get my fogs running as DRLs. In case anyone is interested we set it to have North American DRLs active and to have DRLs via fogs. The fogs come on once you release the handbrake and turn off once the main headlights come on.

The problem is that the bulbs don't seem to be can-bus friendly, so I have a contant bulb out warning on the dash. We tried turning of the cold diagnostics for the front fogs but the error comes up when the DRLs come on.

I have found these, which look like they could be a solution: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-H8-RESISTORS-LED-Car-Foglight-Bulbs-NO-OBC-CAN-BUS-ERRORS-PLUG-AND-PLAY-/221070874396?_trksid=p2054897.l4276

My question is, what is the best place/way to mount the resistors? It says they get hot so need to be on metal. Could I cable-tie them to something metal?

The car is a pre-FL L&K.

Thanks

Bump - nobody done this or something similar?

Thanks, I guess I'll just have to poke around behind the lower grill for some metal!
