Fabia coolant warning on cold start

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2002 Fabia MPI Classic.

Recently I started intermittently geting a flashing coolant temperature light and a warning sound. I've checked the level of the coolant which seems to be fine and the engine temp has stayed solidly where it should be.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Forgot to mention. This happens when doing a cold start and if I turn the engine off after a minute and restart it the warning disappears.

I had this on mine with the same engine. all i did was replace the expansion tank entirely (someone said just replace the sensor but its so much easier to do the whole thing).

Just siphon out the expansion tank and take the pipes off without spilling too much, unscrew and take out the old tank, replace it, pipes back on and fill it back up again, i did it in no more than 5 minutes in total (and im no expert i can promise you!)

Just changed my header tank due to the same fault,£12 off E-Bay for complete tank :)

Don't think sensor is removable on its own?

I planned on getting one off ebay but struck lucky one day going to scrappies with a friend and a fabia happened to be there, tank was in really good nick and i payed £3.

I was fairly certain it wasn't removeable either (judging by the design of it) but some arsey mechanic on the other end of the phone was adamant, he quoted £50 to which i laughed and hung up anyway! :L

Mine was brand new, including delivery ;)
