why so expensive?

Featured Replies

My clutch slipped again today putting foot down in 5th on motorway.

So I have begun snooping for a clutch kit and even the sachs OEM one is £340ish.

However if I look at all my neighbours cars out the window i.e. a CTR a clutch kit is £200.. A Honda crv £180.. A puma £80.

Why it the fabia so much more expensive??

To match a dual mass flywheel id assume

Plus a diesel clutch will have to cope with way more torque. Probably 2/3 times! So will be more expensive materials id have though

My bmw is the same.... Probably a bit of bmw tax thrown in too

Yea probably.

Just annoying as I bought a diesel for cheap motoring!

Try and drive around the main torque spike of the car

Try driving more like a petrol motor. Shift down a gear or 2 and feed the power progressively. Should last a while this way until you can get the funds together

I paid £240 delivered for a single mass flywheel and clutch on ebay. Feels amazing and knowing your dmf isn't going to deteriorate in the next 20k is a lovely feeling.

That's when it'll slip, higher gears "pulling" on the motorway. Cold turkey I'm afraid, you'll have to wean yourself off the TORQUE!!! style of driving and proceed more genteelly. A PITA when the outside lane clears up and the way is clear in front.

The other options are remap to reduce overboost/torque spike or replace clutch.

Car Parts 4 Less is the cheapest place I found mine. Just under £300 for the OEM one, that's DMF, Clutch Kit with Slave Cylinder.
