On my 2008 elegance 1.9 the power steering warning light came on and power steering failed while reversing into a parking spot. On switching ignition off and restarting the engine fault cleared and all was well. Any thoughts on likely cause would be welcome.

Is the battery/alternator in good condition?

That's for prompt responses. No known problem with battery, starts first time every time evn after standing for several days. Does anyone know if it is a hydraulic system or not?

I think he's right      you really need vag-com or a good auto electrician
