Is the Amundsen Really This Clever?!

Driving down the M1, very light traffic 70mph on cruise control.

Cruise control stuttered and then suddenly disabled itself.

This was exactly at the point that the Amundsen was telling me was the start of the queue for a 50mph roadworks section.  About 1/2 mile later the traffic did indeed start to back up.

Is this a coincidence?  The cruise control behaved impeccably before and after.

Or did the Amundsen recognise that I was entering a traffic queue area and kill the cruise control?
