Aerial questions

Featured Replies

I got an aerial off a 2009 golf estate thinking it would fit mine as the base amplifier is knackered but the power feed wont fit even though the golf had a base stereo. My power plug in for the amp base is white on the end where as the golf is purple and won't fit. What OEM options do I have I.e stubbie that actually works etc.I have a 2007 vrs estate

Take the plastic FAKRA connector covers off and join the two cables together without the official connectors.

You can cover it with heatshrink if you want a more permanent connection.

However, white indicates it's a powered FM/AM antenna whilst purple suggests it's for Bluetooth reception.

It can pick up FM but is not very good.

I had a cheap shark fin off eBay a while back which had a connector for the older style black round connectors. That worked, but not as well as a proper whip aerial.

I've now done away with roof mounted aerials and have one in each rear side window powered by Touran amps: one for FM and one for FM/AM. The roof mounted shark fin I have is for GPS & GSM.

Post a picture of the connectors and the antenna you have as I'm not totally clear what you have and will then be able to advise with more certainty.

Sorry I don't have them to hand as they are at my work but the statement about the purple being for Bluetooth makes sense as the golf had it.

So what your saying (and I know without seeing a photo you can't be sure) is even if I hard wire the new aerial on then I still won't get a good signal?

If not is there a skoda OEM base and stubby I can order from TPS?

Thanks
