taxing a car

Featured Replies

hi folks, just a little nugget of info i found out today..

you no longer need to bring your insurance certificate to the post office to tax your car, they no londer check them.. i was a bit surprised to hear that

also when taxing a vehicle online they don't check it either, but they still do check the mot status

apparantly it's a new thing they are doing now in the run up to the paper tax disc dissapearing.. something to do with it being the liability of the individual driver to keep thier car insured rather than the dvla/post office..

I just taxed cars online for January 2014 on and one was rejected because it had no Insurance Showing on it.

Car is under 3 year old and was not rejected on no Current MOT, as it does not require one.

Waiting to hear back from the Insurance why it is not showing as Insurance is up to date , not newly taken out,

and yet not showing on ASKMID .
