MOT Time!

Featured Replies

So the past 2 months the Fabia has been off the road. Nothing major, my fat arse has broken the drivers seat making it rock forwards and back and the airbag light is on due to MOMO's **** boss kit. So, getting bored of not driving it, I found myself a set of mullered old seats to use to fix my current ones, picked them up yesterday and decided to sort the Fabia out and get her back on the road.

After 8 weeks or so standing & obviously leaking it's filled up with water & started growing its own, if the police looked it in I think I could get done for cultivating cannabis. Front door cards and some of the dash covered in mould.  :rain: Not cool.

This afternoon me & a mate got to work on it, took the seats out to start with. Then stripped all the carpet and underlining out, luckily the rear passenger side footwell has a handy bung to push through as a drainage hole, almost like Skoda knew you'd get a pool there lol. By this point it was getting dark so we went in to make a new seat. Thanks to pastyboy and the others to who have contributed to the forum on seat dismantling, came in handy. Found one the the metal supports underneath had snapped hence the rocking chair situation. So, swapped my base foam and cover onto a solid metal frame that has a reasonable upright bit too. It doesn't look fantastic but it's only temporary. I've also removed the battery to charge overnight, it wasn't fully flat but when I took it for a quick spin a few weeks ago the power steering light came on and was heavy so thought I'd charge it to make sure it'll last a MOT.

So tomorrow, I need to refit the seats, clean the mould from everywhere basically, refit the stock wheel (until I get a new boss) and fit the battery. I lastly have to hope that the noise coming from the clutch when it bits is just something rusty that will stop once driven :D and that it actually passes the MOT. Tyres, brakes and lights and stuff are all good and always kept on top of so should be a issue. Hopefully fastfit dont **** me about as my normal MOT place was full till monday and I'm too impatient to wait!

Finger crossed!

Good luck, Matt. Mine passed last week and no Advisories. Sure yours will be fine

Well we managed to get everything done just in time, arrive 3 min late lol. Left it an hour to return to find he couldnt get it on the ramps. :( It's not even that low! So, round the corner to kwikfit, never used them before so we'll see, they were the only placed left to try this time on a saturday. See what they say, it's in at 4pm so I'll roll over about half past and see.

Well went to collect the Fabia, the lads down my local quick fit are alright! Chatting about one of them having a 1 series on x5 snowflakes, looks siiick. Anyway, the old girl was ok, 170 odd thousand miles and passed with flying colours. If I dont get too ****ed tonight I might take it for a early morning smashing tomorrow :D

Thanks for the Furby support Lee!  :sun:

Nice to hear Matt
