Retro fit cruise control

Featured Replies

Good Day All

I have just put a deposit down on a Monti 1.2 on a 12 plate, which is now number two Skoda out of three.

I have a question, is it possible, and if it is how easy is it to retro fit cruise control? Having looked on EBay there are a number of people selling replacement storks with cruise control. Plus a company in Manchester who will fit it for you.

Is it a case that you fit the stork and then reprograme the ECU and tell it that it have now got cruise control??

Imay be very new on here, but I know that there are a lot of knowledgeable people out there willing to give out usefull advice.

Many thanks

Steve

Alot of places will fit it for you. I think the dealers charge about £180 (not sure but think i read it somewhere)

Obviously a new stalk needs to be fitted, then i imagine it will need to be activated via vcds

There are retro-fit kits provided by the Skoda dealership that contain fitting instructions, the unit itself and the cabling. After installation which requires you to drill a hole through the firewall (which to be honest is a ****ty solution if you ask me) you need to tap onto the wiring harness of the ECU and then you need to program it via VCDS.

Sounds like id much rather pay £180 than do that to my car myself haha

I wanted to tell you that but didn't know how proficient you were. Indeed it is not an easy installation - on the MKI it is different but on the MKII I don't think they thought the process enough.

Or maybe it is done like that so people turn to the dealership. Not sure.

Thanks for the info, I am going to the dealer sort out some of the paper work for the Monti tomorrow I will ask them to look into it as they seem to be very helpfull - which is a very pleasant change!!

By the way, 32KOFDATA, did you much of a problem fitting the double din SatNav in your Fabia?? After looking at your project thread I had the idea of removing my Kenwood doubled in SatNav from my Alhmabra (which is being replaced with a new Octavia vRS in March) and install it in the Monti!! I also assume that you loose the parking sensor display?

Many thanks

Steve

Indeed you will lose it. Installing it is very easy. Depending the unit though you might need a harness for everything to work properly.

I fitted Cruise Control to a Monte Carlo today

What a job and a half

A lot more complicated than the Octavia

Several Wires to the BCM and steering plug

worst one is to the ECU

Remove the airbox, scuttle panel, ECU plug is secured with Anti Tamper bolts

Got it done and worked fine

It's only a £175 option when u buy the car new......I know we opted for it as we are going to be up and down to Wales from Scotland... :) it was brilliant on the way up....just set it to speed u want, u can accelerate and it go's back to the speed u set brake and it cancels nice little set up...........my m8 £60k merc is a PITA....if u want to pass anything after u set ur speed u have to keep pressing the button to up the speed and the opposite to slow down overly complicated if u ask me.....

That was the only draw back of buying a Monte Carlo Tech over the Standard Monte Carlo you couldn't add any factory fitted extras only dealer fitted! I added the Rear Parking Sensors but bulked at the £375.00 price tag to supply and fit the Cruise Control and the £141.00 price tag to fit the Front Arm Rest (plus the cost of the Arm Rest). Mind you if you balance these against the price of the Tech against the Standard Car you would still be quid's in! It all goes down to how much you'll use it I guess.

I had it retro-fitted to mine free of charge. It took the best part of a day they said so labour charges could be high.
