Steering rack bolts

Featured Replies

I have finally found why my mk1 vRS was handling badly, the steering rack bolts were just slightly loose. (Worse on the bush side of the rack) I have nipped them up but they don't really get tight, I think I need to replace the bolts.

Does anyone know the bolt spec and where to buy new ones? (Poss main dealer?) Also I know they are stretch bolts, can I replace them with non stretch type so might not happen again or is there a specific reason for them?

After nipping them up the car handles normally again, its nice to have some feel in the front end, it was dreadful before.

You couldn't see any play or anything in the rack moving the steering wheel side to side, or with a pry bar etc, so if your having problems definitely check these!

Thanks :)

bolt p/n is N10015506 iirc (qty 4). You can get a poly bush for the steering rack also. I would go oem for the bolts given what they hold on to your car! They're cheap as chips anyway.
