no power to aftermarket stereo

Featured Replies

Swapped the single din kenwood stereo for a jvc double din Today the jvc wasnt holding the eq settings etc so removed again to swap permanant and switchable live over which solved the problem pushed the stereo back into the cage and it has stopped working altogether checked fuse in back of head unit and fuse in fuse box both ok any ideas could this be a broken wire? Any help would be appreciated as its left me scratching my head

There are no lights or sound on the stereo even tried the old one back in which is the same fitted plenty of stereos before and never had this issue any ideas what ive done wrong

Have you got a multi meter handy? Prob worth checking to see if your getting voltage to the plug first. Also double check the fuses by a continuity test (ohm setting) .

Not at the moment will buy one tomorrow and check thought the head unit may have blown to begin with but after testing the old one aswell it has to be a power issue only thing i can get it to do is force eject cd is there any other fuses that can affect stereo other than the one stated on fuselayout and the one in stereo thanks for your fast reply appreciate it

Tested the headunit on my neighbours car and is fine so im thinking its either ignition live or a bad earth will test with multi meter in the morning and hopefully get it put right
