Just had a phone call from my local dealer. Two/three weeks ago I ordered myself a new Monte Carlo Tech Estate in the diesel. Everything went smoothly and I was happy!

 

Until about an hour ago, when they called to say there would be no car arriving and tried to sell me one that was already built with no options for more money!!!!!

 

Not happy, now need to decide what to do. Your advice is welcomed....

No explanation given to me other than there wont be one coming, and do I want to buy a different one. Im going in tomorrow to see whats what so I shall report back. Im thinking I get one at the same spec as the tech, for the same price, but just a factory order!

Have they forgotten to order it, changed the order slot for someone else, sell out of Monte Estate Techs etc... ???

Could be forgotten to order, or they accidentally sold it. Either way they sound like a bunch of cowboys, I'd get your deposit back and go elsewhere

As said, 'why' is the big question. Shocking they didn't apologise and grovel a bit and explain the situation, then offer to do you a good deal on something else. I'd personally be wanting any deposit back and just go to the next dealers.

Sounds like they took a deposit knowing there was none left and are trying to get you to buy a more profitable model.

They offered me a pre built normal monte, no optional extras!

Question why they messed-up, wait for an answer and walk away anyway.

 

There are many dealers who will be happy to have your business.

Tell em to stick it and that you'll be buying elsewhere.

If they can't be @rsed to source a Tech for you then tell them to shove it, it's their fault not yours.

Take your business elsewhere, there's plenty other dealers or brokers to use.

I would want to know from the Dealership Manager,  Finance Manager or Dealership Owner what the truth is.

 

Did a Salesperson do a deal that that was not good for them? Like it was not Registered before the end of January.

Or was it some other **** up!

 

Car needed for a Special Customer maybe.

It doesn't matter why it hasn't materialised, he ain't going to get one from them so walk away and take you money where it will be appreciated more.

If they said originally what had happened and promised to get one then fine but to then try and stitch BTS22 up,that's cr@p.

They could offer to spec a normal Monte up to a Tech then sell to him at Tech price but they couldn't give a **** by the looks of it, they're obviously not prepared to take the hit.

Some, like me are interested OR JUST NOSEY to know if it is 'The Dealership', or Salespeople Covering, and the Bosses do not know what happens in their business.

 

Because when its been done to me,

i was, 'Make Me Happy', or lets see what bad publicity i can get you. They 'Made me Happy'.

 

BTS22, has easy access to Bad Publicity for them.  

How long before Dealers and Dealership staff catch onto the power of the net.

but finding out if the Boss knows how the Dealership Customers are treated takes only 10 minutes,

and if he does know, you just Name and Shame.

Yes you can walk away by all means but have a word with the boss man first, you might even turn this to your advantage. It's worth looking into. Surprising how just threatening to walk and the helpless staff become magicians.

It'll be interesting to see what they come up with tomorrow when BTS22 goes in, they'll be hoping because he's built himself up for getting a new car he'll just accept what they offer.

The ball's in BTS22's court, he just has to be patient and be prepared to tell them to shove it where the sun don't shine if they're not willing to rectify the situation.

This thread is worrying, when I put a deposit down on mine (for a pre-reg demonstrator but exactly the same car) they told me that they couldn't factory order that car. Fabia Monte Carlo Tech Estate.

Went to the dealership today and apparently skoda have told them there will be no more Tech estates coming. They've messed up and didn't look into it properly obviously and were happy to take my money without finding out first!

 

tried to sell me a normal Monte for more money and offered nothing in terms of discount!

 

Ive walked away, and i won't be going back to that dealer.

Damn, sorry to hear that. Knew there was something fishy when I saw you placed a factory order at the same time I was told there was only what was left. I also found that the standard Montes were a bit more expensive, probably to get rid of the run-off Techs.

 

On the other hand, Gordon Lamb in Chesterfield I believe have a Tech TSI Hatch saw it just as it arrived a few weeks back, not sure if its still there.

Sounds like the dealer didn't actually press the button and order it 2-3weeks ago. Now they've tried to place an order they've realised they can't! Woeful service.
