Random white smoke on vrs diesel

Featured Replies

Hi,

every now an then my octavia will start to give off white smoke from the eghaust it doesnt miss fire or go into limp mode and the DPF sensor lights doesnt come on, what could this be?

Is it mapped or still standard?

just standard with a performance air filter but it was doing this before i installed the air filter

OK, I' don't know TBF but thought some more info might help those that could provide an answer.

I'm assuming it's a PD? if so have the injectors been replaced as part of the recall? how much smoke do you get and how long for, is it weather related e.g. only happens when it's cold and damp. are you loosing any coolant, is the oil contaminated in any way. Are you using supermarket diesel?

Again not sure if any of the above would cause it but the guys will need some more info to help you

Yes its a PD engine I dont know if the injectors have been changed however I know this can be a problem, im using tesco diesel an I has done it when then engine is cold an warm. I will check the coolant, an theres quite alot of smoke then after 10-15mins it will stop altogether. Hope thats helped

I've had 2 cars with a white/grey smoking habbit:  That colour smoke is normally fuelling problem.

Had a turbo fail (vanes shattered) on a Bora 150TDI and it was like a smoke screen out the back of the car.  Engine was getting nowhere near enough air at idle.

And thanks to the AA trying to start the engine to check for a pipe being split or off the broken vanes ended up in the engine and caused >£2000 worth of damage :@

2.5V6 TDI passat randomly chucked out alot of smoke which would clear after a few minutes of idling.  Didn't ever have Vagcom available when it happened but I always suspected the fuel temperature sensor going faulty and reporting a hot reading (hot diesel = less dense so ecu tells injectors to inject more) and you get overfuelling.

thanks, ive also had the glow plug light flashing on the odd occasion but it goes off when i turn engine on an off would that have something to do with the smoke. also i dont know if the injectors have been changed as these models were recalled for injectors to be changed would faulty injectors kick out this sort of smoke?

I've seen white smoke from a diesel when it was being starved of fuel, turned out to be a clogged filter.

thank you il take a look at the filter. :)

Go to Skoda dealer, and they will tell you on the spot if injectors been changed or not. They will also give you a printout of injectors.
