how strong are the standard intercoolers? because surely mine was weak to have blown its top pahaha

 

just wondering as since fitting a temp standard cooler to be able to use the car until my front mount is done,,, i want to know how much they can take? (good condition ones i mean)

p.s, the car has been mapped 20 psi

Crikey, I'd expect them to hold at least 3 bars of pressure before it pops, I wonder if anybody has ever done a proper destructive test on one?

well i mean 20 is only 1 short of a bar n half so i mean i find it extraordinary only 20 psi could do this.. the metal fins are bent and the lid blown off...

 

put 20 psi in a car tyre and u can press it so i struggle to believe this was a mint cooler and that boost did all that! :-/

 

still though, am afraid to boot it now lol

If you have massive surges it could pop it- you done any logging runs with it? 

Need 4 bar pump so buying one tomorrow... then will run logs to see its ok
