Very good condition Estelle

Featured Replies

Buy it and sling a 1.8T in the back of it....................epic  :D

Personally I think it would be a crime to do that to such a great condition car that's survived so long in amazing shape.

By comparison, Citigo and Yeti are common as muck. ;)

Citigo and Yeti aren't proper Skodas. Like the new Rapid they're Skoda in name alone, just another means of selling more cars. Mutton dressed as lamb imo.

  I have to disagree with you there.

On that basis, Skoda don't make any proper Skodas now then.

They are all varients of VW group models, based on it's technology or using it's drivetrains.

I can understand a hardcore liker of pre-VW Skodas having a view like that, but I think it's wrong.

Its a silly view point. Skodas are still-life built with the same passion.

Lovely Estelle, would be a shame to use it!

I would not bugger around with it if I bought it. It is a rare piece of history and will probably end up being bought by a museum. My best mate at school had a 105 Lux as a first car and though it handled well, it was painfully slow: 80mph if you were very very lucky. For driving you really have to have a 1.3 but I agree it is amazing. Is £4K still too optimistic though?

@Chops54: I would have to agree with you too. Yes the basic floor pan and running gear are the same but VAG gives Skoda and SEAT pretty much autonomy in design and set up of the cars so to drive they do feel like they have a character of their own. A drive in a Golf, an Octavia and a Leon all using say the 1.4 TSI would feel very different. I love both models though my mate who ran the Estelle (now a Vauxhall Vectra driver did dismiss my car as "just a f*****g Polo in drag". I do understand that the old hard core lovers have that view. However one can also say that the Mk1 Octavia is just as special as say an original Octavia as it was the first car to really make people sit up and take notice of Skoda as a brand since the pre war years. Volkswagen really have done a lot for Skoda. The other bidder for the marque was Renault who really only wanted the factories for manufacturing space :/

@Norman; Still-Life? :P I would not go that far. I love my car but I don't think it belongs in the New York Museum of Modern Art  hee hee :P

Would that be yourself Dave? I recommended my mate buy it as it is identical to his old car but looks like someone bought a piece of history. I hope it runs ok though and the seals are ok as otherwise it's going to be dripping everywhere if they have hardened from lack of use etc :/

  As much as I'd love it, no, I didn't buy it.

That's nice to hear. :)

I've recently joined the club, but it wasn't me. :D

Fond memories of the Estelle my Dad had 3 and I learnt to drive in them, Sadly my Dad passed away before Vag group gave them the scope to evolve

So we're all clear on this, the "Special Saloon" variants used an F5000 car and a GRP silouette; you do not need an actual Skoda! :B

Looks like it's had a water pump replacement judging by the red gasket sealant around it, and the air filter housing is the wrong colour - they were always blue.

Yes they do because it definitely isn't!
