engine missfire woes

Featured Replies

i am getting intermittent missfire on 1.9  130 bhp. fuel filters been changed and i have tried several different garages for fuel. it can sometimes go 3 or 4 days without bother then out of the blue start again! nearly 200,000 on clock egr valve changed 33,000 miles ago. please help im demented!

Got any fault codes?

The wiring loom for the injectors inside the engine is a frequent cause of intermittent misfire on the PD engines. After a high mileage, the loom becomes brittle and the connectors intermittent. Often, there is no fault code.

The loom is cheap and easy to change in-situ. Warm the new one before you fit it, so the carrier becomes flexible. Despite a sharp bend, it goes in without a problem.

200k miles is about run in for a 1.9 PD.
