cambelt

Featured Replies

Hi

This is a question from one of my mates who just bought a 2nd hand 2011 Octavia 2.0 tdi 4x4

when does it need a Cambelt  replacement....

The car done 45k

i believe skoda recommend 80k but general concencus around this forum recommends 60k

VAG recommend different cambelt intervals on their engines depending on where you are in the world. They vary wildly, but I use 60,000 miles or 4 years, whichever comes first on my 2.0 PD.

There is a valid argument that the Common Rail engines (which your friends 2011 model will have) can go a bit longer between changes as the cams don't operate the injectors like on the PD engine. However I think the official advice from Skoda UK is still 4 years.
