oil pressure but no damage

Featured Replies

ok so i got the dreaded oil pressure light at 111000 miles the car travelled a fair distance after ( i wasnt driving it at time ) but having a look the turbo seems fine and oil in top of engine ive changed the oil and filter ( the oil was like water in the filter) im goona get new pump spline tomorow and hope its failing and caught it rather than failed or maybe could just be a sensor fail . has anyone else had anything like this ?

This is a standard 2.0PD engine fault. It is caused by the hex bar coupling for the oil pump drive failing to engage in the hole in the slave balancer shaft due to poor tolerancing and torsional oscillations.

If your engine has survived (if it has been driven any distance the main bearings and turbocharger will be damaged) the cheapest repair is to delete the balancer module entirely and fit the oil pump drive from the 1.9PD which is 100% reliable. There is an oil feed to the balancer module which needs to be blanked off if you do this.

Make a very careful check of the engine condition before you spend money on it - running without oil wrecks everything.
