intake manifold flap blip

Featured Replies

Hi

I have just put another engine into my Skoda Octavia 4x4 57 plate 1.9 tdi . The BXE engine threw a con rod and punched a hole in the block so i bought a second hand BKC engine and fitted that.

All seems fine except that the intake manifold flap (V157) keeps shutting for a fraction of a second as I drive along, it's not enough to stop the engine completely but it's a heavy jolt as the power goes. When I unplug the cable to the actuator/ flap motor the car runs fine.

I'm not getting any engine warning lights, even with the cable unplugged. As I understand it this flap is meant to shut for 3 seconds when I turn off the engine to reduce judder/ running on, it then springs open again. I don't think it serves any other purpose?? and it's shouldn't be activating as I drive along. I can't see any damage to the cable. My worry is the Engine Control Unit is telling it to shut for some reason.

If anyone has had a similar experience and solved it, it would be great to know how you did it? Or if you have any ideas of the cause? And if you think it's ok to continue driving the car with it unplugged?

thanks

Chris

can anyone help?

Did you install the ECU from the BKC?

Have you run basic settings on the manifold flap motor? Should be able to do this is VCDS.. Sounds like its forgotten its position and just needs resetting...

Thanks, no didn't use the ECU from the BKC. I will try and find someone who knows what they are doing with a VCDS to see it it can be set up for this engine.
