if it's anything like the Fabia, you have to prise off the front upper trim part.

If you check out Bowders really useful thread, http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/126257-octavia-1-replacing-door-latch-microswitch/ , post number 6, the photos say how the thing comes out. Just be careful as you lift the main panel from the door card as those clips can grip real tight. I used a long flat blade screwdriver to gradually slide under the panel and take the pressure off the clips a little at a time as I gradually worked them free.
