Hi,

Greetings from a normal wet Huddersfield. My wife and I don't yet own a Skoda because we are awaiting delivery of our new Fabia Monte Carlo Hatchback 1.2 TSI 105 5dr in red and black. We are currently running a brand new Roomster Scout kindly on loan to us which we are enjoying. I must openly confess that I never ever thought we would buy a Skoda in any shape or form. Last year our best friends bought a new Fabia Elegance telling us how good it was so as we were to trade in our Toyota Aygo this August we paid our local Skoda dealer a visit to see what was on offer?

Although too early yet to place the order the salesman at DM Keith here in Huddersfield spent quite a bit of time making us welcome and showing us the Fabia; Roomster and Yeti models all lovely cars. My first choice was the Yeti but just for the two of us a bit big and it would have to sleep out. The Roomster also appeared a bit big for us but the Monte Carlo in red and black was just too much temptation to ignore. We left with the brochures saying we would return to place a firm order.

Since being made aware of how good Skoda's now are and how well loved they are by their owners we didn't bother looking at other makes. We have ordered the petrol 105 Monte plus a spare wheel and can't wait to take delivery of it which is imminent. We had a test drive in a Monte so know how good its going to be.

I've just been browsing this forum and a member is rather upset by comments he is receiving because he has bought a Superb? When  my wife and I moved into our dream detached bungalow 27 years ago we arrived in a new Citroen 2CV. Our new neighbours were running Merc's; BMW's and Audi's; our immediate neighbour was running a big Saab; we live well within our means and don't give a hoot what cars our neighbours run; we don't have finance on our car and it's not a company car so it's our money and our choice. I'm all ready for receiving snide remarks once our new Monte is with us and my reply will be "yes its a Skoda; should have bought one years ago". Over the last few years we have owned brand new nine Micra's and two Aygo's; we are both fully retired and time we spent some of our hard earned money otherwise it will be left to the vultures?

I'm an active member on other forums whilst keeping busy; I've just restored a Union graduate woodturning lathe; A Lorch Schmidt Metal turning lathe and a Wilmac bandsaw.Retirement is wonderful; just wish the rain would cease.

Kind regards, Col.

Hi,

Many thanks for the welcome samuir1974 & vrsadz; much appreciated. Perhaps we should have bought a boat given the rainfall down our valley over the last couple of days?

Kind regards, Col.
