Exterior vinyl pillar?

Featured Replies

Hi everybody.

I've just noticed this on my 2010 fabia, any ideas what could have done it or how to stop it from happening further?

Hi, this is similar to what happened to my 11 reg Fabia but mine pealed from the front edge. The piece of Vinyl its self is less than £5 to get, I got mine fixed at VASS tech yesterday, about half an hours job.

How much did they charge to do it?

It really is a simple DIY job.

If it is a Warranty Job, ie within Warranty,

Skoda pay & to the Owner, 'no charge'.

They do try to say External Environmental Damage,

but you say, Poor Skoda Manufacturing or Quality Control of Parts and Factory Assembly.

Anyone got a guide or adviceon how to change it please?

Check the replacement foil is correct against the old one.

Peel off the old foil (vinyl)  after looking closely at the position it is on.

You might want to use a Hair Drier to heat it up.

Clean off any residue so that you have a smooth paint surface to apply the new foil to.

White Spirits, Panel Wipes, paint thinners, nail varnish remover, glue remover type fluids need used carefully, no naked lights, so put the ciggy out.

Take the new foil, Stick if on carefully without bubbles of air.

Or have someone that is good with sticky back plastic do it for you.

I noticed such a problem on a friend's vRS - I always thought those were painted.
