Rear Bumper Help And Advise Please

Featured Replies

Hi guys would like some advise ,have had a little accident , bumped the rear bumper into a tree!!,luckly only cracked the top plastic part on the boot lip sill. See pictures .Does anyone know how much this part is to replace,or where I can get one from. At the moment we are in Portugal until October,so may try and get one here and also may be cheaper to reinstall.

Checked the car over at the rear no other damage or dents(thank god). For some reason cannot up the pictures get this message

Having just done this myself to my 2007 estate the part is about £37 from the dealer IIRC but is a pig to fit.

You'll need to remove the whole bumper and then the black trim should 'clip' out. In truth, I had to cut away some of the clips as they would not press out on mine. Refitting the new black trim proved to be fairly painless, although I did need to trim away excess plastic from the recesses where the clips fit.

For information and anyone needing to replace a bumper as well: the hard bit if you are replacing the bumper is that there are two metal bars (one each side) that also need to come out (if you are just replacing the black trim, then they can stay in the bumper) and be fitted to a new bumper.

I forgot and had to take the bumper off again and refit these! Doh!

PS: Glad I'm not the only one with parking sensors that reverses into things...

Thanks for this Freedom ,thats a great help , good job there was no damage to the bottom part and the lights.

No problem.

I put a dent in the rear bumper and the top section so had to replace both: hence needing the metal bars as well.

(It's KBPhoto though - 'Freedom' shows that I am a paid up member of this forum).
