Any point cleaning Octavia II EGR valve

Featured Replies

Car = octavia 1.6cr tdi

Cars goes into limp mode and getting the following error in torque app:

'Powertrain - Auxiliary Emission Controls - ISO/SAE Controlled. Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor 'A' Circuit Range/Performance'

Apparently the EGR have been know to clog up on the octavia so I'm guess that might be a good place to start.

The car is serviced on the required intervals from new and 100K kms on the clock.

Is there any point in cleaning the egr value or should I just take it to dealer to resolve?

Could be a simple sensor.

Their places that clean them, skoda i think comparticipates on new one

It's always worth cleaning an EGR valve!!

Indeed it is. If nothing else it could save a rather expensive fleecing be a dealer. :)

Yes, clean it. Do the intake manifold too if you can. The airflow restriction when these are dirty is chronic.

Thanks for all that replied.

The EGR is indeed bust and cost 800 Euro for replacement value plus labour.

However Skoda Ireland are going to cover cost bar 120 euro to fit it.

apparently the EGR gives trouble on the 1.6. Mine is showing same problems yours did but its still under warranty. I am going to get dealer to replace it as cleaning it may only be short term and dont want warranty running out
