As they share the same platform you might be OK with any rear disc braked Fabia, including the mk1 VRS.

Which lets face it, are more likely to be getting stripped for parts because they are older and there are loads around.

You'll have to be careful with the ABS and stuff like that as it's all linked to the electronics, I can't see it being an easy or straight forward job.

As BossFox says though, the parts should be readily available and Ibiza as well as the Polo would probably share the same parts.

Another factor to be careful of is the warranty as I doubt Skoda would look at it favourably, changing the spec of something as important as the brakes even though it would be classed as an upgrade.

Apart from looks, do the rear discs actually make much of a difference to braking performance?

 

Reckon it'll cost a far bit to upgrade without a huge performance benefit.

I thought Fabias over 100PS (so 105PS TSi and TDi) got rear discs?  Might only be the petrol one though..

105 TSIs only get drum rear brakes, the only petrol model to get rear discs is the vRS

Ideally I want to upgrade the fronts but thought it would look strange with big fronts and drum rears plus will the brake balance front to rear be all over the place?

When I put 323mm Brembos on my mk1 VRS it was fine on the road.

It was only on track it felt a bit unbalanced under heavy braking into corners, so I then upgraded the rears.

 

Arguably, yes an upgrade to the rears would be better if you are putting 312mm fronts on, but it's not really needed for the road and the small rear drums do look odd with the bigger kit on the front.

Yep! My 2013 Greenline II Estate has Discs all round! and Vented at the front!! :D

If upgrading for Motorsports & increased sporty braking, 

mk2 vRS would not be on my wish list.  even if they were just for looks.

 

The Monte Carlo is already Motorsport & Rally inspired and a tribute to the Motorsport Heritage, did they not give them Motorsport Heritage stopping power?

The rear drums get Cosmetic rust on the exterior unless you DIY paint your new car, but seem to stay rust free on the Braking Surface which is something to be thankful for IMO.

 

vRS Discs after being left sitting for a while are a disappointing example of the low rent parts that Skoda often fit.

Might the master cylinder be different and the ECU setup as well? Maybe easier just to part-ex for a VRS...

It's not worth upgrading the brakes on a 105bhp diesel Monte surely and I doubt anyone will even notice you've gone bigger on the front discs.

Skoda will just void your warranty anyway so you've got to ask yourself, is it all worth it and if it is then go for it.
