DSG gearbox clutch pack repair

Featured Replies

I urgently need to know if when you repair the clutchpack of a dsg gearbox, do you need to replace the dual mass flywheel also??

Maybe put it in somewhere other than the section for issues with the website...

Moved to somewhere more relevant

How many miles is on the car is going to be the deciding factor.

There is already a thread on this from the OP here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/321391-dsg-gearbox-clutch-pack-repair/

And as I said in that thread the DMF would not be changed as a matter of course, as the clutches in a DSG do not interface with the DMF like in a manual transmission......the clutches are inside the DSG gearbox.

However as the gearbox has to come out to replace the clutch pack, I'd seriously think about replacing the flywheel while it's out......depends on how long you intend to keep the car and current mileage etc.

Do you have a 6 speed DSG? I ask as your sig suggests you have a 1.9, but you don't often hear of clutch packs needing replaced on the 6 speed DSG.....much more common on the 7 speed.

I had my clutch pack replaced on my 2005 elegance after I could feel it slipping. Cost nearly 800
