ABS Module Removal

Featured Replies

So I have gotten my ABS control module, and trying to replace it. But I'm having great difficulties!

After removing the battery, the 1 screw holding the whole assembly and electrical harness, I still can't seem to get the pump to move. I read that I'm supposed to move it side ways..

Or must I remove all the brake lines? As I'm just looking to move it out a little to change the module.

Thanks!

You must unbolt all brake lines

Unplug the ABS Plug

Undo the bolt that holds the base plate to the mounting bracket

then slide it out

easy

It is better to swop out the whole pump & Module

then just the Electronics module

Make sure you know what your coding is too or you will be screwed when you refit it as it will wipe it

Also Basic settings need to be performed before any coding

Well, after changing to a new module, I still get intermittent faults of ABS Hydraulic Pump 01276 V64.

I guess I have to replace the whole unit? Very frustrating, as I thought since I didn't get the G212 fault, it had to do with the module.

Hi all - I have the task fitting a new ABS module on my 2011 skoda octavia - at first I was looking at the repair kit below but found none about.

Repair kit 1K0 698 517 B  Suitable as a replacement for the hydraulic blocks:

1K0 614 517 B, C, D, E, H, J, M, N, Q, T, AA, AB, AE, AF; 3T0 614 517, 3TO 614 517 A and 2K3 614 517

So I decided to buy a tested full unit exactly the same as what's on my car 1K0 614 517 AB - on my replacement new part can I remove the electronics module from the hydraulic block removing the 2 screws in affect  creating a repair kit and just replace the hydraulic block/pump? and does this remove the need for programming?

I am hoping to get this done this week, the fault is traction control light stays on and diagnostics pointed at ABS module 100%

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

I had (and still have) the same fault. I removed the unit and had it checked by ECUtesting. Unfortunately it came back as no fault found.

Yes you can split the unit from the electronics, have a search on YouTube, there's plenty of info there.

I somehow buggered my clutch slave cylinder when bleeding the system with a gunsons easi bleed. £950 for new clutch and slave cylinder - take it easy!!

Mines booked in to a VW specialist in January for repair.

Update - I managed to swap out the hydraulic block and pump only leaving existing electronics module  after removing battery, air intake, battery plate. I took out the old unit and replaced with one I bought second hand. Getting the lines back on the new unit was tricky making sure I didn't cross thread. I did have the steering + traction light on but went out on a short drive after the compass found its position, all light now out and no re-programming needed.

ottooctavia - sorry to hear your troubles, hope all went/goes well - take it easy and a happy new year all

otto - did you run a fault diagnosis on your Octavia? sounds like your fault could be a wheel speed sensor issue if your test come back all good, corrosion can cause this - worth a check. My fault codes come up after doing a VCSD full check.

I did run a full vcds scan and no abs wheel speed sensor faults.

My garage have just advised that the abs/ECU unit is faulty. Replacement (used) on order so hopefully back in the garage next week.

I'll keep you posted.

Finally found the cause of the problem was the yaw sensor under the driver's seat.

My original abs unit was probably ok. I sent it to ecutesting and it came back no fault found. Somehow in putting it back I screwed the clutch slave cylinder and got a further abs fault. My local mechanic replaced the slave cylinder and clutch at the same time. To cure the abs fault I then purchased off eBay s used abs unit. This was probably faulty and I ended up with the same faults. Eventually sent my original abs unit for repair and they found 2 faults,  1the normal brake pressure issue and another in the ECU. Returned unit was fitted which cleared all faults except the original! Replaced the yaw sensor and all faults cleared.

The yaw sensor was about £13 off eBay and took about 45 minutes to replace. - should have tried that first...
