Access to relays behind the fuse panel?

Featured Replies

Ok, I'm trying to remove the small tray that sits to the right of the steering wheel, just above the removable panel for fuse box access - how do you do this?

I've removed the side panel of the dash, I've found some bolts to loosen the fuse panel off, but still can't find how you remove this area?

The reason I want to remove it is because I want to fit a cigarette lighter socket in there (so I can plug in my SatNav).

Any help/pointers greatly appreciated

I have fitted a 12v socket behind the fuse panel accessed via the side panel of the dash. I didn't have to remove the tray. I used a piggy back fuse into an empty switched live space and fed the wire up behind the tray via one of the small gaps and then connected up the socket and an earthing point. I use it to power my dash cam.

That's great! Thanks!!
I've just done something very similar (but connected into the rear of the fuse box) and put an inline fuse holder.
I'm going to drill the top of the little tray I think for the socket so the socket points towards the floor.

Thanks again for the photos

I liked the ease of the piggy back. My socket is just wedged in, I was being lazy! I might tidy it up one day but it's not rattling so I doubt it haha. There is just enough space behind the panel and it leaves the interior socket free for occasional use.

All done today :)
Socket fitted into the top of the little tray (it doesnt get in the way of my legs/knees either) and all wired in

I am using the socket by the handbrake for a douple USB and plugging in my iPhone/Aux cable in there to charge my phone and allow me to play music through the head unit - well pleased :)

Cheers jonro2009 for the pointers :D
