I think i'm going to have 18"

 

The question is what's max tyre size i can put on?

 

245's or 225's?

I would suggest that you stick to 225/40/18

The ride quality on my factory 17/45/225's is quite a bit worse than the winter 16/55/205's I have on steel wheels.

On that basis (assuming it would get worse still with 18's), I'd save my money for something else

Agreed based on the same tyre sizes in my experience.  I have winters on 16 rims and summers on 17 rims, and it is noticeable, though with 17 still tolerable.

On 18 rims a boat will still be a boat, so no better handling as such, but it might look marginally better in some people's opinion.  IN my opinion the Superb Luxo-barge looks just right on standard 17 rims - once you start bolting on RS6 audi-esque rims it starts detracting from its spiritual home
