Bolero to Columbus ...is it an easy swap ?

Hello, I know this has been asked before so my apologies for asking again, I've seen the thread for it I'm sure , but I can't find it again after ages looking.

Questions are - Will my Bolero unit swap directly for a Columbus unit , the car is a 2014 Skoda Yeti Outdoor 2.0 Tdi Cr Se 5 door (new model), if it is an easy swap will all my steering wheel functions work, will the voice commands work, will all the displays show everything they should, in short is it idiot proof and will it all work if I do it, I also understand that some coding might need to be done, what is this & who does it ...thanks very much, Paul.

Yes. Easy swap.

You'll need to add a GPS antenna under the dash or up the A-pillar to the headlining or to a roof antenna (if doing it properly).

You'll also need some VCDS coding to get all the functions working correctly. Have a look at the VCDS owner's map for your nearest Briskodian or go to the dealer (much more expensive).

Thanks for that KBPhoto. Placing the GPS antenna in the right place sounds like it might be a bit of a job, just how easy is it removing trims etc. to get it to the headlining, or is there a better/just as good place but easier to get to.... thanks.

The usual place for the hockey puck antenna is under the dash trim in the metal chassis bodywork behind the headunit.

It works there, but you do get a better signal if you run the cable behind the glovebox (6 torx screws) and up the A-pillar trim (pulls off unless you have airbag logo on it) and stick it (magnetic) to the inside of the roof (no need to remove headlining).

If you want everything completely OE, that's when the headlining needs to be moved and cables run to a new/different roof antenna.

If your not confident pulling off bits of trim from your new car, an good car audio/auto electrician would be able to do the whole job in under an hour.

If you want to stick it on the metal chassis then it's a 30 minute swop you can do your self, not including the coding.
