Has anyone ever used washing machine detergent to clean their filter before, I've read on another forum that it can be used? I haven't got the official K&N Cleaning kit and I thought that this means may be a cheap alternative! Also, what aerosol oil can be used to regenerate after a clean?

Be very careful when re-oiling the filter as if you put too much and use the wrong stuff it can knacker your MAF

I used to blast my K&N from the inside out with an airline followed by a wash in petrol then spray with WD-40 when dry.
