Bought a '61' plate VRS estate! A few newbie questions...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've agreed to buy a facelift '61' VRS Estate from a main dealer. Comes with all the extras I'd have bought if I had the money to buy new apart from no red stitching and no tooth. I've read the thread on the DIY mod though. Does anyone have a VAGCOM in the north west that'd be willing to assist with the coding for a small donation?

Does anyone know if the brakes are the same size as on the Leon FR? I have read about the space saver wheel needing to be a certain size because of the brakes. The VRS comes with the wheel in a can, but I am planning to swap with my FR spare. I am guessing that there is plenty of space to fit the space saver spare and jack, etc under the floor?

Thanks all,

Pics to be posted on Tuesday/Wednesday.

I magine they will fit because the rolling diameters are all much the same.

My L&K came with a regular 16" steel spare, which fits nicely.  The tools come in a polystyrene donut.

Dosen't the FR have 325mm brake rotors?

Vrs rotors are 312mm.

16inch is the minimum wheel size that fits over standard VRS brakes

312mm rings a bell. The Cupra brakes are next size up.

I'll just keep this one.
