1.6 FSI Fuel economy?

Featured Replies

Hi

What is the fuel economy like on the 1.6 FSI engine?

Is it as near as economical as the 1.9 TDI?

Thank You

It's official combined figure is 42 mpg, while the 1.9 TDI's is 57 mpg. So it doesn't really come close on economy.

On the plus side, they don't have turbo or DMF problems and they are very cheap to buy compared to a 1.9 TDI

Cheers for that!

I get around that maybe a little more , mine is an auto. It also depends on how you drive.

I considerd both, but was put off by diesel dpfs, (low annual mileage), ended up with a 1.4 Petrol....(had a 2lt diesel)...very pleased so far...great engine, and better mpg than my old diesel (45mpg average so far..tank to tank, but computer only about 1mpg out (and petrol cheaper))..and engine is soooooo quiet and smooth after the diesel.....

I've got a 2006 1.6fsi estate with 93k on it and avereage between 38 - 45 mpg.

Last weekend i did a 420 mile round trip to scotland with a car full of mountain bikes, tents etc etc and got 42 mpg.
