brake upgrade what is needed

Featured Replies

Could someone tell me exactly what I need to convert my front brakes to 312mm

I currently have standard 280mm up front on my 1.9 tdi

You will need discs for definite  possibly carriers as well unless the one you have fit. Some body who has done the conversion may be better informed, i would think the calipers should be fine.

Not being funny DanialA11, and with the greatest respect, but with the various other threads you have posted recently, there are a few issues with your Octavia that should be addressed before you even start to think of modifications and upgrades. Things like your clutch issue should be a priority at this stage mate.

Mike

Thursday the car will be going in for belts water pump and the fault with the clutch will also be addressed

AS already said in another of your threads, all the mods you are planning or have done are mods that need declaring to your insurance, and as well as the cost of the necessary repairs, I hate to think what you are planning to spend on the mods that you mention. Is is really worth throwing that sort of money on a 9 year old Octavia that you have already admitted to us on here is a cat C insurance write off? I think not. Yes the car does look the part, but at the end of the day that Octavia is financially not worth spending vast amounts of money on.

Mike

Cat d mate and I understand what ur saying it being 9 years all an all but at this moment in time it's all I can afford

And with that info u just expressed I no longer wish to upgrade the brakes

So why waste your precious money on spending on a car that just isn't worth it? Save the money you would spend on the mods and extra insurance and save up for a better car you can enjoy later on. The more you spend on this one, the less you will have to upgrade the car in the future.

Mike

Completely understand Mate and with that taken into consideration I will get the belts changed clutch sorted and leave it as that :)

But will put vrs rear shocks and springs in as I'm getting them for free from a fellow member

I think that's a very sensible option. I'm not trying to TELL you what to do, but money isn't unlimited to any of us, and I truly feel that any money you spend, now or in the future, would be put to far better use in a newer car later on, one which already has the mods you are (sorry, were) planning for this one.

Good luck in getting the clutch problem sorted, if the verdict on that suggests that a new clutch and flywheel would be a benefit, don't be afraid of a solid flywheel conversion with your car being a 1.9. Let us know what the outcome is.

Mike

Solid flywheel is defiantly happening sooner or later because regardless off anything I'll pass this car down to a family member when I get a new one
