Radiator movement

Featured Replies

Hi All

Noticed the other day when trying to source a rattle within the engine bay between 1000 and 1500 rpm between that my radiator appears to be loose at the top on my VRS pd

It easy swings back as far as hitting the coolant pipes on the engine cover but I cant see any broken brackets at the top or any way of securing it where it should be.

Has anyone else seen this or had the same experience?

Thanks In advance.

Phil

Well done finding the probable source of the noise and a possible future failure.

If there are no obvious missing or broken fasteners I'd just cable tie it securely, ensure you aren't pressing it against something hard as again vibration will eventually chafe through, consider rubber pads like the stick on type you get for PC towers etc. between any contact points.

well that was the cause of the rattle so it seems! 2 pound bag of zip ties and its secure again, god knows how its loose as there's no missing or broken brackets so it seams

Haha I presume you mean £2 and not 2lb bag of zip ties, imagining a car held together by them!

Mind you I did go to see a GSXR many years ago the fairing being held together by bailer twine! Didn't buy it obviously.

Fingers crossed jobs a good'n.

Assuming the vrs is the same as my 2.0 TDI 4x4 the rad is held by 4 bolts, 2 at each side, which go in from the back.
