Oil pump if say bud.

Generally when the red oil light comes on its too late and its a dead top end

Suprises me that it is already not dead. Id get it to a specialist on a low loader if need be before its too late

I been think about the oil pump I get a new one tomorrow it comes on like 3 or 4 times then goes off

Oil pressure relief valve gummed up and sticking?, has anybody done a gauge oil pressure check to rule out sender and relief valve as potential fault areas?.

It's in being done now I don't no if they done a oil gauge test where would the oil pressies relief valve to ?

Pressure

Either a signalling fault, the sender or allied stuff is duff.

Or, not making enough pressure, the oil pump is duff.

Or, unable to hold the pressure due to pressure release valve opening OR wear (and soon tear) internally.  Too much clearance on the crank/bearings will allow the oil to escape and the pump will be incapable of moving enough oil to fill the gap = metal to metal = destruction.

If you don't have enough pressure, and the light is the very last ditch warning, then the crank bearings will not "float".  They need a minimum pressure to do the hydrodynamic surfing thing which stops them destroying themselves.

Something to check out properly.

common fault of blocked oil pick up pipe

sump off pipe off first check for blockage

I had the sump of 3 times now put new pick ups on its in now having a new oil pump so I think it's better of having a new pump should I look for anything else ?

It has happened, so who are 'they' that do the work on your car? So that others can give them a wide berth!
