Clutch Question

Featured Replies

So my VRS has decided that its time for a clutch change as its starting to slip occasionaly in high gears at maz boost (not bad for 158k on original clutch and flywheel and has been stage 1 since 2006).

Im going for the Sachs SMF conversion as this seems to be the one everyone recommends and seems good value for money (unless anyone can recommend a better one for same or less money).

My question is: Ive been qouted £140 labour to fit. Does this sound reasonable? Seems pretty fair to me but clutches is one thing im not that knowledgable on.

Cheers

That sounds reasonable to me. A local garage to me just quoted me £100 + VAT to replace my thermostat (with me supplying the parts!).

Well done on getting to 158k on the original clutch! Seems that a lot of cars even with 2/3rds the mileage have had them replaced. Mine is on 123k and still good but isn't remapped.

£140 labour charge is very cheap.

I payed 200 to have mine fitted a couple of years ago, so thats a very good price.

My clutch went at 85000 I replaced it with an ecs stage 1 flywheel sachs vr6 clutch. It's been awesome for 4000 miles.

My mechanic quoted me 120 to fit, so 140 is pretty good, as it is a time consuming job to get the box out. You could do the change yourself =-)
