Head lights

Featured Replies

Hi, new here! my dad has a 2000 Octavia estate and the headlights are the type with the pattern on the glass. he need to replace them as both have stone chips, but he wondered if the facelift ones with clear lenses will fit? sorry if this has been asked before as im sure it has!

No; they're different widths. So is the upper grille, and that means that the bonnet is different too.

Question ,

Has your dads car have stripes in the pattern in the glass ?

If so he can replace them with the 2002 facelift headlight that is crystal clear

Hope this helps

hi, thanks for the replies. the lights currently in the car are the ones with lines on the glass. I have purchased some 2001 clear ones off of ebay and the compatability checker said they would fit. however, the electrical plug is different, the location and fixing of the height motor is different and they seem too deep for the space? the basic shape of the glass is the same and the fixing points are the same? am I missing something?

KenONeil is correct I believe. From memory I believe the front panel may also have slight differences on the face lift 2000 on cars. As always, anything can be made to fit, it is just the effort to do it.

What confuses the online parts checkers is that 2000 is the change year, so the systems think your car is a newr model than it really is if you see what I mean.

You could try cross checking parts on here if it helps you at all - http://www.partscats.info/skoda/en/?i=cat_vag_models&brand=sk&number=81&

ok thanks, I'll try that. strangly, I even put in that it was a 1999 car but still said it would fit.

just had a quick look and a 2000 model has part numbers 1U2941017A and 1U2941018A, and 2002 model has 1U2941017P and 1U2941018P. same number just different final letter. does this make all of the difference?

The final letters normally denote a revision of some description, sometimes they are trivial or cosmetic, sometimes they can be a more physical revision.

I seem to remember posts about this a couple or so years back, try putting in random things into the search engine at the top of the Octavia page like "bonnet" or "headlamp" and see what comes back for you.

Sorry I can't be more help, but the older models are a bit thin on the ground now and I am working from memory of my brother in laws car 7 years ago here. :)

Oh and excuse my bad manners - welcome to the forum.

Different last letter could be for o/s or n/s headlight

I'd thnk the 7 or 8 next to last denotes the handedness, and post facelift the lights are very different left and right side.
