change cigerette lighter for 12volt power socket

Featured Replies

As I don't smoke i was wondering if it is possible to change the cigarette lighter for a 12volt power socket, as i think this would look nicer.

the cigarette lighter is a 12v socket? Just chuck the lighter away (if it has one and what your left with is a 12v socket.

The lighter on my Octy has never worked anyway.  Doesn't matter as I don't smoke and don't allow passengers to smoke whilst in the car.

I therefore use the socket solely as a 12v power source without problems.

One thing you can also buy us a plug in USB charger too.

I have one similar to this.  It has a green ring.  AIIM.

The usual 1amp type won't charge a tablet, but this will also charge a phone.

Had a non Belkin double socket one which worked for 5 minutes.

Sits almost level and is unobtrusive, unlike the ones which look like a second gear stick or whatever.
