replacing the starter motor

Featured Replies

As the title suggests is this an easy job for an non mechanic or should i book it in? I was hoping to have ago myself is it easy or hard thanks

Remove battery, battery tray, air filter... this will give plenty of room. Unplug the plug then you have i think 2 10 or 13mm nuts. Undo them a d move the wires out the way which the nuts were holding in place. On the same thread is a 17mm nut/bolt undo both of them and thats it wiggle free and it will come out.

Roughly 15 minutes mate.

Oh top bolt can be done over engine bottom bolt jack up car and do from underneath i found this easiest but sure you can possibly do it from top

Yeah it's a little fiddly to get to some of the bolts but not that hard.

Cheers guys I'll be trying it soon once I find a new starter

Mounting bolts are about a foot long as they go through starter and bell housing into engine block,

Bit fiddly but not rocket science

Yeah nice and easy. Can all be done from above which saves some faff.

As above, simple job. I did mine last summer with basic tools - about an hour start to finish I would say.
