Ghostly electric windows.......

Featured Replies

HI all,

I have a bit of a funny one,

The electric windows have started doing their own thing, they will all go up and down whenever they feel like it, and only occasionally respond to any switches, the rears were especially bad, often going up and down in fits and starts.

I have unplugged the drivers door window switch cluster, and this has stopped them acting randomly, I can hear relays clicking away, but the windows don't move. I did flick the mirror adjuster between left and right before I unplugged the switch cluster, and the rears immediately went all the way down, weird..........

just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem ever, if it is switch cluster, or possible body computer.

Car is a 52 plate vrs with 198000 miles.

Many thanks,

Rob

When I had this issue, it was because I had water in the drivers side, window regulator plug(attached to the window motor). Pulled it out, dried it all and put petroleum jelly all over it. Job done.
