Front compliance bushes

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I know this has been done to death but..........

I am after a link to some Octavia front console bushes for a 2011 VRS as I can't seem to find any of the uprated solid TT compliance bushes for my VRS anywhere (after spending hours reading the forum).  The only uprated ones I can find are these

The car has done 57000 miles and they are starting to look a little tired.

They must come in the housings because I have not got a press to put bushes in with.

EDIT - Ooops just found these. Do I need a left and a right or are they both the same ?

Many thanks

Radders

I used Audi S3 lemforder ones from Euro Car Parts £28.74 at present

not the stiffest but mine were shot.

You will need a right and left one as they are different

I did the front ones at the same time.

I'm looking for stiffer ones.

The bottom link I posted says I need two, I think it because it will fit on both sides.

Left and right console bushes are not identical so you will need one of each not two the same.

I have never been impressed with Febi stuff.

Genuine Audi ones are about £65 each if memory serves well TT and S3 are the same item.

If you have a modicum of hand skills, then replacing the bushes would not be too daunting.  You could even remove the housings and pop off to a garage/truck place/machine shop or anywhere with a press.

Removal of the bushes is brutally easy.  Hack out the rubber, hacksaw through the remaining steel outer and it should just poke out.  It is only held in by friction, once you relieve the pressure it should drop out.

A good clean up and the new bushes will press in with a vice.

Only apply force to the metal outer.

Over on GTI mk5 forum there are pictures for comparison between various bushes and their housings.  The housings are not all the same.  There were comments re the TT ones giving too much negative camber and tyres scrubbing out the inside edge.

Sorry for slight hijack, just trying to learn what I can about this car...  Are these bushes where wishbones mount to?

Yes.  Big one inside an alloy housing at the rear and a smaller one at the front.

Thanks,  How does one know when they're worn? Does the ride get more 'sloppy' or do you just tell from inspections?

Sloppy &vague steering indicates a close inspection would be a good idea.
