Paint quality?!

Featured Replies

Sooo, after 2 years and tons of tons watched clips, practise and rest of stuff, now I think Im ready to polish my princes.

Did anyone of you do it, and what you think about paint or lacquer? Are they good quality(thick one)?

Tnx for response, wish me luck..:)

If you have had any new panels they might be different to the rest of the car. I bought a cheap paint thickness gauge out of curiosity, might be worth it to check.

Already have :)..no new panels(except one from Superb 2010- i bought it to practise on it) :)

If you have the right tools and materials (variable torque tool, various disc pads, abrasive paste, polishing paste, etc), it can be done, as you most likely saw in the videos.

I used a detailing company after trying to remove the hairline "ripples" with some turtlewax paste and polish stuff...After seeing the amount of work, materials and patience required to do a good job, I will never try myself and I will gladly pay a specialist to do it...

But, to answer your question, the original paint + lacquer can take at least a couple of polishing jobs, as long as they are done properly and evenly; in my case I could even smooth out some minor scratches (the detailing company in fact). Not sure about the repainted parts though...

Any news on the polishing job? Did you manage to do it?

I didn't want to discourage you with my experience (maybe I didn't have the patience and dedication required to do such a job), but these cars definetely deserve some love from their owners...

For day or two will be done.

I had task to collect everything I need, and some other stuff to maintain her good look.

Detailing is very expensive job! :(

Good luck and come back with some "before and after" pictures
