Hi Briskodians

 

Got me a shiny RNS 510 to replace the Swing unit and I am looking for advice on how and where to mount the GPS antenna in my 2013 Fabia SE and where to route the cable and how the trim panels or parts are removed.

 

I have the swing out and I can not see an obvious route to fit the antenna above the center air vents, any guidance or tips would be appreciated.

So did more digging on interweb and found this site with useful information.

I used a No1 flat head screw driver instead of the special "Release tool -T3011" to open the air vent catch pegs (this is a bit fiddly) and then inserted a pop rivet to keep them open, did this for all 8 catch pegs and the vents pulled forward easy, enough cable on the hazard and passenger air bag to pull forwards and up and rest on the dash. 
 
Just behind the inner air vents is a big round metal bar that runs the entire width of the car to which I attached the magnetic GPS antenna and secured it with a cable tie.

 

Every thing works a treat. Loving the RNS 510.
