MOT passed - 1 advisory, anything to worry abut right now?

Featured Replies

So my car is more or less 4 years old now, earlier today it passed it's second MOT without too much hassle.

The one advisory was that there was some "slight oil misting on the O/S front shock absorber" - mechanic told me nothing to worry about right now, but I should keep an eye on it.

Is this something that is going to cause problems in the near future? Should I be looking at replacing the front shocks? Any idea of cost (roughly)? And what should I be looking out for, just strange steering and driving sensations indicating something not right?

Snap!

Just got the exact same single advisory on my vRS. Got the same advice not worry too.

Had the same on another car for 4 mot's in a row.  If it  was a problem it would have failed the mot, They may not even notice it next year.

Same was reported on my wife's 2000 Renault Megane at every MOT from 2004 to 2010.  Never needed replacement or repair.

OK, thanks all.

I'll push it to the back of my mind then :)
